The Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) was set up in NITI Aayog for transforming the

innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in the country. A key initiative

of AIM is establishing a network of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL)

with the objective of creating scientific temper as well as cultivating

the spirit of curiosity and creativity among young minds.

ATL provides an enabling environment for students to innovate through a do-it-yourself approach.

The Labs will be equipped with sophisticated machines and instruments such as 3D Printers and

Microcontrollers for honing the technical and innovation related skills of students.

They will help to bring theoretical concepts to life and inculcate a range

of skills including those pertaining to design, computational thinking and

physical computing. Due to the practical orientation of this approach,

students will learn to “make” which, in turn, can lead to the development

of real-world applications and new enterprises.


REPORT on activities in ATAL tinkering LAB

-  The Atal Tinkering Lab was inaugurated on 30-6-2017.

- Principal, Mrs Holy George took  motivating sessions on

‘Tinkering ‘ and the aim behind the setting up of the lab.

- Introduction was given to the parents about the functioning of the lab

- Students from 6 to12 were also introduced to the main objectives of the Lab.

- All the teachers were also given a session on the aim and objectives of the lab.

-The trainers from Evobi Automations Pvt Ltd (Bibox) came and took sessions on

the various tools available in the lab, 3D printer, the use of these.

- Introduction was given about the 3D printer and the software used to make the image to be printed.

- Full day practical sessions were conducted on the programmed working of sensors and motors

- Sessions are conducted in the morning class wise by the ATL incharge.The students

made various projects like sensor dust bin, smoke detector, obstacle sensing stick, automated irrigation system etc.

- In December 2017,2 days workshop was conducted on 21 and 22

on microcontrollers and sensors. Students made various working models.
